He is a missionary from the Dutch Reformed Church and married Rolina le Grange on 17/12/1966. They have three sons, Andreas Martin Scheffler, Friedrich Carl Scheffler and Pieter Jacobus Scheffler andone daughter, Reinette Scheffler.
